The Malice Box
Martin Langfield
‘7 trials
7keys
7 days
1 chance to save the world’
Set on the streets of manhatten the story follows the trials of Robert Reckliss, a journalist. When he is sent a complex puzzle box by an old school friend it sets into motion a life changing event. The copper puzzle box turns out to be the key to stopping a plan to cause the end of the world, primed to go off in 7 days time. Guided by the watchman and a psyic, Terri, Robert follows a Da Vinci style quest across Manhatten to develop his abilities and locate the 7 keys hidden around the city. Higher forces are battling to prevent him completing the quest for the Minotaur and Unicorn are circling their prey.
A well written book which is divided neatly into seven chapters. Not quite a book i couldn’t put down but still a compelling read. The suspense is well built and the plot well written. However, i found the usual good vs evil plot lead to an obvious and disappointing ending. I found the final chapter was let down by a lack of detail and a plot which seems to be resolved far to easily.
