Maine Journal tag and postcard

Browsing through people idea’s for making travel journals and i came across this. i think i may use this idea to create a journal for my 2009 travels. i will have to get hold of some of the rings and some water colour paper to use as pages.

For the wedding i made each one of the bridesmaids a set of jewellery to match the dress’. These were tiger tail wire supporting a turquoise heart above a set of blue and white sparkling swarski crystal beads. the earings were just the swarski beads in blue and white on a thin silver rod.

This picture shows three  of the bridesmaids wearing the jewellery this will document two completed tasks

1. make the jewellery for the wedding

2. be a bridesmaid

I was lucky enough, while on placement, to be able to go to the zoo on a schooltrip with the foundation stage children.

we went off to whipsnade, a zoo i haven’t been to in years. Although the children cried on leaving and complained almost all day (when are we going to get there? when is lunch time? when are we going home?) it was a great day out. We saw the new Lema inclosure, the elephants the tigers, the sealion show and we played in the park. By the time we got home i was just as tired as the kids probably were, not helped by the breaking down of one of the coaches causing choas when we tried to leave.

My book

My trip to China covered all these things on my list.

1. Get a stamp in my passport
2. Go to an Olympic event
3. Keep a travel journal
4. Spend more than 14 days out of the country in one go
5. Use an overnight train

We were away for three weeks and our first journey was on an over night train, On entry to all the countries we visited we had our passports stamped. When we got to Beijing we managed to get tickets to the canoe/ kayak event and over the whole period i kept a travel journal of what we did.

This is one not completed but am working on it.

Visit five different countries, i have managed 4 out of the five and am off to Brussells next week so that will complete it

Wedding tan

So the day before the wedding we all went and had a fake bake spray tan so we’d all look tanned and gorgeous for the wedding. I had a medium tan which made me look really dark while it set and then washed off and became a great tan.

After three attempts i passed my driving test.

what a relief to not only have the cost of learning gone from life but also to have the freedom to go where i want when i want!

I bought my sisters car off her and so have now insurance for it as well.

So have completed four driving related tasks off the list:

1. Pass driving test

2. Get car insurance

3. Drive steph to a quiz

4. Drive myself to placement

Ok so logging back in and finding that my last post was september last year has made me think.

the first thought was OH NO how will i ever complete my 1001 list but on checking both my list and the end date i think i can do it. so heading this way will be a manic updating of my list of the things i have achieved over the last year.

I will also re-evualate my list and see if anything needs changing.

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire

Having been to the theatre to see the musical and loving both the concept and the music i thought i should read the book to see what that was like.

Synopsis
When Dorothy triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum’s classic tale, we heard only her side of the story. But what about her arch-nemesis, the mysterious witch? Where did she come from? How did she become so wicked? And what is the true nature of evil? Gregory Maguire creates a fantasy world so rich and vivid that we will never look at Oz the same way again. Wicked is about a land where animals talk and strive to be treated like first-class citizens, Munchkinlanders seek the comfort of middle-class stability and the Tin Man becomes a victim of domestic violence. And then there is the little green-skinned girl named Elphaba, who will grow up to be the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, a smart, prickly and misunderstood creature who challenges all our preconceived notions about the nature of good and evil.

So having finished the book i found it to be a lot darker than the musical but i loved the mix of classical tale retold for a defferent, in this case the ‘wicked witch’s’, Point of View. i loved the links between both the orignal and the new and the setting up of the story of the wizard of Oz and how it’s characters became as they were.

I found it to be a very interesting read and one i’m very glad i have read.
